Port of Pollensa will host for the first time on the 12th of October a nautical fair of second hand goods with the aim to collect funds for the fishermen of the Moll in these difficult times of the crisis. It is an initiative promoted by the website that offers help for sailors, boatinginmallorca.com, which will be in charge of the programme together with the Town Hall of Pollensa, the Yacht Club of Pollensa and the fishermen themselves.
"The idea to organize this event came about as a result of an article published in Ultima Hora last year, alerting to the difficult economical situation that the fishermen of the Moll and Cala Ratjada are going through", explains the responsible of theboatinginmallorca.com, Sebastiá Danthez. "We thought that if we join our forces we will achieve more than separately", says Danthez.
Seminars and conferences
The second hand fair will not be your typical fair, but will incorporate a complimentary programme of conferences, workshops and all kinds of activities. "It is something new, not usually done in Spain, but very common for example in France", explains Danthez. The idea is to combine an exhibition and sale of second hand boats on the premises of the yacht club and crowd pulling conferences and events. "People will come and share their experiences, young sportsmen for example, who have sailed around Mallorca in their sailing dinghy", tells the representative of boatinginmallorca.com.
Entrance to the fair is free, while funds for the fishermen are collected with the help of various raffles throughout the day.
