Prince Felipe´s surprise visit to the Palma Boat Show

Prince Felipe surprised the visitors to the Palma International Boat Show with an unscheduled visit for a couple of hours, during which he traversed practically the whole fair.

Prince Felipe arrived at the Show around 12.00 to assist at the prize giving ceremony of the I Marcial Sánchez-Barcaiztegui Trophy, which was awarded to the Naval Regatta Commission of the Balearic Islands for their contribution and support to the promotion of the sailing as a sport, in the Navy and in Spain in general.

The award has been created by the Palma Boat Show Organizing Committee in honor of the the illustrious Admiral who passed away in July 2012 and who was a close friend of the King Juan Carlos and the Royal Family.

Sánchez Barcaiztegui was a historical President of the Commission, an entity with close ties to the Royal Family due to their participation in the Commission´s regattas during their holidays in Palma over the years.

The heir to the crown visited various stands in the Palma Boat Show and chatted in a relaxed manner with the many entrepreneurs and visitors he came across.
